If you're looking for a new way to get out with friends or family, paintball might be just the thing. Paintball is an exciting sport that can be played by people of all ages and athletic abilities. It's also a great way to exercise, improve hand-eye coordination, and build teamwork.
But where do you play? You don't want to run around aimlessly searching for a field with no idea of what else is available in your area. There are many different types of fields, and it can be hard to know what the best one for you is.
If you're new to the game or just looking for a new field to try, I've put together a list of five of my favorite paintball fields in Jacksonville and some nearby locations worth checking out!
8984 Normandy Blvd,
Jacksonville, FL 32221
WhilsPaintball.com
WHIL'S PAINTBALL is a great paintball field in Jacksonville. It's got a great atmosphere, welcoming, adventurous, and fun feel. It's conveniently located near the beach and downtown areas, so you can easily make a whole day of it.
The price per player was cheap compared to the amount of fun had and things included. You can bring your own food and drinks or buy them there if you prefer. If you decide to bring your own food, they have picnic tables set up to enjoy some fresh air while you eat.
The paintball field is large enough that there are many different arenas to play in simultaneously – this makes it very diverse and challenging but also fun!
The only drawback was that although the site does not specifically say to wear long sleeves and pants, it's highly advisable to do so because of getting splattered with paintballs (especially during warmer weather).
You'll also find it a little confusing at first due to not-so-great communication of instructions by staff members when you arrive on site (which can be remedied by asking around).
14723 Wade Rd,
Jacksonville, FL 32218

Paintball Adventures is where to go if you're looking for a paintball field in Jacksonville. The staff is very friendly and informative, and they make sure to explain all of the rules before you start playing.
They have great customer service, and they give you all the information you need to know about how to play paintball. It's a great place for group outings (business trips, birthdays, etc.) because you can rent out the whole place for your group.
The courses are good, too—and overall it's really fun! The paintballs are reasonably priced, and they even have a shooting range where you can warm up before playing and finish off any remaining ammo afterward.
The only downsides are that there aren't enough referees running around making sure that everyone is following safety rules. There aren't enough courses available at once to play together with people with different skill levels. You might accidentally get grouped up with some 9-year-olds when you're an adult.
86588 Goodbread Rd,
Yulee, FL 32097
GTFPaintball.com
GTF Paintball is equally suitable for kids and old folks, as they have small fields and large fields. They enforce the rules for everyone's safety, so you can play without worrying about getting shot or injured.
They have lots of playtime and different themed fields, so you can spend a day on the field trying different things. The refs are extremely engaged and have eagle eyes—you could tell they are paying attention to every detail during playtime. They were also helpful when asked about how to play certain games or what kind of gun would be best.
You can only use their paintballs, and their paint is of good quality—you'll notice a difference when you're playing with them. The only downside is that there was only one choice of paint color available—it was overpriced compared to other places' options. Also, the bunkers were too low for adult players to stand up in comfortably.
10614 SW Archer Rd,
Gainesville, FL 32608
RockyCreekPaintball.com
Rocky Creek Paintball is a great place to have a birthday party, an after-school activity, or a fun day out with friends and family, located only 1 ½ hour away from Jacksonville.
They have three different speedball courses and woods with bunkers to play capture the flag and king of the hill. The course is also clean and well-maintained. The owner is very helpful in explaining how to use the paintball equipment and is careful with the player's safety.
The best part about Rocky Creek Paintball is that it has tables available covered with table cloths for food preparation ahead of time or after games are over. You can also bring your own chairs if you prefer. The price to rent a gun and buy paint and air is also very reasonable.
However, it is a bit expensive compared to other fields in the area, but the quality of service and experience make up for it. The paintball fragments might draw a little blood sometimes, so watch out!
5619 SE, 7141, SE Co Rd 337,
Newberry, FL 32669
FirstStrikePaintball.com
First Strike is located just 1 ½ hour from Jacksonville, so it's easy to get there no matter where you are in town. They offer great rates and packages for all ages and skill levels, so everyone can have fun—no matter how much experience they have with paintball.
It's also a great place for groups because they have 14 fields with different elevations that make it easy for everyone to find one that suits them best.
The woodsball field has great bunkers and big trees for cover, making it perfect for beginners or people who want a challenge. The speedball field is better suited for experienced players who like fast-paced action and speed games rather than stealthy hide-and-seek tactics (but don't worry—there are plenty of trees around too).
You can bring your own equipment or rent theirs, so you'll have everything you need to start!
Paintball is one of the most fun ways to get outside, let off some steam, and make new friends. There are paintball fields all over Jacksonville, but here are five that I think you should check out:
